Computer Hardware and Software

DELL Inspiron 5160 laptop with Intel Pentium 4 processor (2.80GHz) running Windows XP Home Edition. It controls the Starlight HX916 CCD
camera thru a USB port. A 6' USB to serial cable connects the scope for automatic 'point and click control' using the TheSky Level V. Laptop has 256MB
ram, 30GB HD, 15" SXGA display, 32MB XGI XP5 video graphics adapter, and 24X CD-RW/DVD drive. A Dell Wireless 1350 (802.11g) high-speed
network and internet DSL access via a Dell TrueMobile 2300 wireless broadband router located in the house.

TheSky6 Serious Astronomer Edition from Software Bisque generates a realistic and inspiring view of the night sky. A state-of-the-art virtual observatory
that's my real-time key to deep-sky wonders, I wouldn't image without it. The software contains native telescope control, field of view indicators, Moon Viewer,
Image Placer, Custom Star Charts, the Hubble Guide Star Catalog of 19 million stars, Catalog of Principle Galaxies, Planetary Nebula Catalog, and many other
deep-sky and stellar catalogues.

CCDSoft 5 Version 159 is a powerful processing package. This software is used for image processing.

PCFocus 1.4.0.23 is the only fully compatible reliable motorized focuser control system. It precisely controls any JMI™ focuser from the PC. Using a direct
connection it provides precise control of the focuser while coexisting with serial connections. Operation of the software is straightforward and intuitive. Using a
JMI NGFS each one of the 512 steps is equal to 1/1000th of an inch or 0.0225mm per step.

FocusAide 1.4.0.25 is a complete automatic focusing system, designed to utilize the features of PCFocus and most popular CCD Cameras. It provides focus
scanning, which is a plot of focus quality vs. focuser position and fully automatic focusing. Integrating control of the camera and focuser, taking frustration and
guesswork out of focusing. It operates under a wide range of focal lengths and seeing conditions.

PixH9 is the image acquisition and processing program for the Starlight Xpress HX916 camera.

AP245 Plus is the image acquisition program for the CB245 camera. Multi245 is Track-and-Stack processing software for the Cookbook camera. This
package had the most dramatic impact on the quality of my images. It can calibrate, scale and composite a large amount of images. Software tools combine
exposures into a single image with extremely high signal to noise ratio that pressed the limits of the telescope and the Cookbook CCD camera.
