The Meade 8" Starfinder f/6 reflector was in service 2 years and after numerous upgrades
went off-line on 8/31/98. It was operational from July 21, 1996 to August 31, 1998.
I wanted to take longer CCD exposures with better tracking for higher quality images.
Too much time was being spent locating objects and keeping them centered on the CCD.
